A lake in Almus Dam in Türkiye’s Tokat, which is being utilized for agricultural irrigation, electricity generation and fishing, dried up due to low rainfall and overutilization. The water level of the dam, which faces drought, dropped to 28 percent.

The decrease in the water level of the dam, which streams into the Yeşilırmak River that passes through several cities, also worries the farmers. Stating that the problem annually arises for the last 3-4 years, a shopkeeper Hüseyin Yücel said, “Tokat plays an important role in agriculture. Fertile lands are irrigated by this dam. If it dries up, situation goes badly for farmers.”
