A Turkish farmer named Yemliha Yılmış donated a horse tooth, which is considered to be 16 million years old, to the city museum, which he found while grazing lambs in the Elbistan district of Kahramanmaraş, Turkey. The exact age of the 8-cm-long tooth will be revealed after examination by paleontologists.
Stating that he wanted it to be exhibited in the museum after comprehensive history research was carried out on the tooth, Yılmış said, “I noticed it in the soil that came out while the irrigation canal was being built in Büyükyapalak District. I thought it was a stone at first. I found it by accident while grazing the lamb. I talked to historian friends. In their preliminary study, they said it was a 16-million-year-old tooth.”
