Türkiye and Saudi Arabia Forge New Transport Pacts

Turkish and Saudi transport ministers have signed two major agreements in Riyadh to boost bilateral cooperation across the railway and logistics sectors. Emphasizing the critical need for uninterrupted trade, Turkish Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu highlighted the strategic importance of strengthening transit networks that bridge Europe and the Gulf region. Recent successful trial runs of an overland route connecting the two nations through Iraq have already proven the feasibility of expanding road transport well beyond historic levels. To further accelerate these trade flows, the newly signed memorandums focus on establishing direct rail links, advancing high-speed train technologies, and building joint logistics centers. Ultimately, officials expect these infrastructure partnerships to significantly enhance regional supply chains and drive economic integration throughout the Middle East.
