Besides the apartments and other buildings that were demolished and damaged by the devastating earthquakes that struck Türkiye on February 6, the historical structures that are located in every corner of the affected cities were also severely damaged. Many tombstones in the 250-year-old Sancaktar Cemetery, which was registered as a cultural property in Malatya thanks to the rich variety of Ottoman tombs it contains, were reported to have been fiercely damaged.
