Türkiye has deployed two firefighting planes to France to assist with the severe, ongoing European wildfire crisis. Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı highlighted the importance of international solidarity, stating that Türkiye is committed to a “struggle that transcends borders” to protect global forests. In response to the deployment, French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his gratitude on social media, posting “Thank you Türkiye” in Turkish. Meanwhile, the crisis claimed another life when a 38-year-old volunteer firefighter died in a refueling tanker crash in southern France. This tragic accident brings the total number of emergency responders killed during the current French fire season to four.
