Türkiye’s Ani Ruins Draw Tourists in Winter

The Ani Ruins, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Kars, Türkiye, continue to attract both local and international tourists. Known as the “City of 1001 Churches,” the site features medieval churches, mosques, and city walls, offering a unique open-air museum experience.

Tour guide Bengül Toprak noted that winter is the busiest season, as visitors come to admire Ani’s historical beauty under the snow. The rising interest also benefits the local economy, boosting businesses in Kars. Ani, home to 23 civilizations over thousands of years, remains a major cultural and historical attraction.
