Türkiye’s Ilgaz Mountain Prepares for Winter Tourism Season

Ilgaz Mountain National Park and its Yıldıztepe Ski Center, pivotal in Türkiye’s winter tourism, are finalizing chair lift and track maintenance ahead of the anticipated snowfall for the upcoming season. The hotel area in Ilgaz Mountain National Park has already hit a 90 percent occupancy rate in anticipation of the New Year festivities.

Renowned for its majestic peak standing at 2,587 meters—the highest in the Western Black Sea Region—Ilgaz Mountain remains an iconic symbol, immortalized in songs celebrating its grandeur as ‘a great mountain of Anatolia.’ It’s a key hub for ski and winter tourism in Türkiye.

Both the Yıldıztepe Ski Center, nestled within Ilgaz Mountain National Park, and the Yurduntepe Ski Center, boasting a 5.6-kilometer track inaugurated in 2020, draw in local and international tourists annually, particularly from major cities like Istanbul and Ankara.
