In the mountainous region of Erzurum, Türkiye, 28-year-old Ismail Akkaş has revolutionized his ancestral profession by using a drone to herd his livestock. Known online as the “Techno Shepherd,” Akkaş safely guides his animals away from dangerous cliffs with the aerial device, noting, “Before, I used to run after them for hours; now I control the flock while drinking my tea.” This innovative approach has not only saved him from risking his life on treacherous terrain, but it has also unexpectedly healed his severe knee problems by drastically reducing his physical strain. “I turn the sheep around with the drone all day long while sitting down, and my meniscus tears are gone,” he explained, urging others to embrace technology for a healthier and safer future.
