Two american tourists damage Spanish Steps in Rome

Two American tourists threw electric scooters down the historic Spanish Steps in Rome, Italy, causing material damage. According to a statement issued by the city’s cultural heritage office, 10-centimeter marble was damaged on a step after the incident, resulting in a restoration cost of €25,000. Following the incident, the tourists were detained by the police, and each of them was fined €400. They were also banned from entering Rome’s historic city center for 2 days, reports said.

Similar incident occurred in May, where a 37-year-old Saudi Arabian tourist drove a rental luxury vehicle down the Spanish Steps and caused damage.
