Taiwan’s Meteorological Department issued a warning about Typhoon Haikui, which is expected to intensify its impact starting Sunday evening. The typhoon is set to affect the eastern and southern regions of Taiwan, particularly Hualian and Taitung cities, with wind speeds exceeding 130 kilometers per hour. In response, schools and workplaces will close in these areas on Sunday, and a public holiday has been declared in Taiwan’s Penghu Islands for Sunday afternoon.

Kaja Kallas, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, issued a stern warning to Israel, stating that “all options are on the table” if Israel fails to uphold its commitment to providing humanitarian aid to Gaza. Kallas condemned the killing of civilians seeking aid, calling it “indefensible,” and urged Israel to stop the violence at aid distribution points.
In her recent meeting with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, Kallas reiterated the EU’s concerns, emphasizing that the Israeli army must cease attacks on civilians. Despite an agreement in July to increase aid access to Gaza, over 20 Western nations have condemned Israel’s ongoing military actions, which have led to the deaths of over 800 civilians seeking humanitarian assistance.
