At a high-level conference in London marking two years of civil war in Sudan, the EU pledged €522 million and the UK £120 million in humanitarian aid. The conference, attended by diplomats from around 20 countries, called for an immediate ceasefire amid what is described as the world’s worst humanitarian crisis. UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy warned of widespread famine and violence, stating, “We cannot turn a blind eye.” Germany and France echoed the urgency, urging unified global action. Over 15 million people have been displaced and nearly 30,000 killed since fighting began in April 2023.
