UNICEF shared before-and-after photos of 5-year-old Osama to highlight severe child malnutrition in Gaza caused by Israel’s blockade. Once healthy, Osama now weighs just 5 kg and is being treated at Nasser Hospital.

UNICEF warned that his recovery depends on proper nutrition, which is scarce due to aid restrictions. “A long-term ceasefire and unhindered aid access are vital,” the agency stated. Over 2,700 Palestinian children in Gaza are suffering from acute malnutrition, according to the UN.
