The US Department of Defense reported that they struck 36 points belonging to the Iranian-backed Houthis in 13 regions in Yemen in an operation with UK at night. Buried weapons depots, missile systems, launch pads and other equipment used to attack Red Sea ships were hit, added the US authorities.
“This action is a clear message to the Houthis that they will continue to suffer the consequences if they do not end their illegal attacks on international shipping and navy ships. We will not hesitate to defend the free flow of commerce and life in one of the world’s most critical waterways,” US Secretary of Defense Llyod Austin said in a statement.
