Tropical storm Ophelia brought chaos to the states of North Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland, located on the Atlantic coast in the east of the USA. Approximately 70,000 residences and businesses experienced power outages. State officials warned about minor floods and stated that heavy rain and winds would continue on the coastside throughout the weekend. A state of emergency was declared in all three states.
