US railroad collision kills at least 3

A train carrying 243 passengers and 12 attendants from Los Angeles to Chicago, collided with a truck at a level crossing near the Missouri town of Mendon. According to officials, the collision caused the train’s two locomotives and eight passenger wagons to derail. Three people were killed in the crash, Missouri State Highway Patrol stated. At least 50 people were injured in the accident, and 3 of them were transferred to hospitals by ambulances, local sources said.

Missouri State Governor Mike Parson expressed his sadness about the incident in a statement on his official social media account, while State Public Safety officials announced that the Highway Police and other emergency teams responded to the incident.

According to the National Railroad Passenger Corporation, the accident occurred because a truck at the level crossing blocked the train’s line.
