US, UK, France Secure Embassy Staff Following Niger Coup

Following the military coup in Niger, the United States, the United Kingdom, and France have taken actions to ensure the safety of their embassy staff in Niamey. The U.S. plans to temporarily evacuate embassy officials and their families, and the UK intends to reduce its embassy staff. Meanwhile, France has asked the interim military administration in Niger to ensure the safety of French Embassy personnel, particularly in the event of further protests. The coup in Niger led to the detainment of President Mohammad Bazoum, the suspension of all institutions, and the closing of the country’s borders.
