A wild elephant named “Plai Biang Lek” entered a market near Khao Yai National Park in Thailand, eating snacks for 10 minutes before the shop owner chased it away with a slingshot.
The incident occurred in Nakhon Ratchasima province. Shop owner Ploy reported a loss of about 1,000 Baht, mainly rice crackers and eggs. Though elephants are known to roam the area, this was the first time one entered a store.
Thailand has an estimated 3,000–3,500 wild elephants, which occasionally wander into villages, but solo market intrusions during daylight are rare.
