Woman on Mobility Scooter Triggers Cyclist Pile-Up in Germany

A multi-cyclist pile-up occurred in Germany after an elderly woman’s electric scooter veered onto the active racecourse. The incident took place on Sunday during the fourth and final stage of the Saarland Trofeo Juniors competition. While one rider successfully steered clear, 17-year-old Dutch cyclist Paul Vriesman was struck by the scooter and thrown from his bike. This initial impact triggered a chain reaction, causing several trailing competitors to crash to the ground in quick succession. Despite the widespread falls, reports indicate that Vriesman and the other involved riders escaped without serious injuries.
