Following Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s surprise visit to Ukraine, the leaders of the two countries had a meeting and signed a statement on the exclusive global partnership prior the joint press conference.
“This document reflects the values that we stand together for and the yearnings that we have not been able to realize. We’ve had the most meaningful relationships in over 30 years, but that’s only the foundation of what we can achieve in the future,” said Zelenskiy on the statement.
Regarding about his meeting with Kishida, Zelenskiy said, “I am pleased to welcome Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, a truly strong defender of international order and a long-time friend of Ukraine, to Kiev. Mr. Prime Minister Kishida has come to Ukraine at a time when it is important to step up global leadership to uphold the Purposes and Principles of the UN Charter and international security in general.”
