Two new eruptions occurred in the Ubinas Volcano, located in the Moquegua region, about 1,200 kilometers southeast of Lima, the capital of the South American country Peru. Peru’s National Emergency Operations Center said that there was ashfall in the surrounding settlements and told locals to take precautions by covering their mouths and faces. Peru Geophysics Institute (IPG) reported that eruptions will continue in the coming days.

Andriy Portnov, former aide to ex-Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, was shot dead in Madrid’s upscale Pozuelo de Alarcon district. Spanish authorities say unidentified gunmen opened fire as the 52-year-old was dropping off his children at school, striking him in the back and head before fleeing.
Portnov, a former MP and lawyer, fled Ukraine with Yanukovych in 2014, briefly returned in 2019, and was later sanctioned by the U.S. for alleged judicial corruption.
