Pollen turns Turkey’s Black Sea coast yellow

A color change has occurred on the sea surface on the Bartın coast, located on the Black Sea coast of Turkey. Local residents and holidaymakers worried about the color change seen in the coastal part of the sea on the Çakraz coast. Upon the developments, the authorities took samples from the sea. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that the color change on the sea surface was caused by pollen.

In the analysis report shared by the Bartın Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate, “As a result of the microscopic analysis, it was determined that the yellow-colored formations on the sea surface in Çakraz Beach are caused by pollen. Pollens carried in the atmosphere by air; sea, lake etc. When it meets with water sources, it can accumulate on the surface of these water bodies, especially on the coastal areas and beaches, and cause yellow colored mass formations,” the reports said.
