Rock tomb chambers were uncovered during excavation work in Hatay, Türkiye, prompting archaeological interest. The site was secured by gendarmerie teams while museum experts examined the find. Ceramic vessels and a sarcophagus from the tombs were transferred to the local museum.
The chambers, resembling caves, attracted curiosity from residents and workers, who toured the site after the archaeological work concluded. Construction at the site, halted after the discovery, is expected to resume soon.
Local resident Zekeriya Ulaş remarked, “Excavation for a trade center stopped when the tombs were found. People came to see the site, and the artifacts were taken to the museum.”
