Despite adverse early-year weather conditions, over 306,000 tourists took to the skies above Cappadocia in the first half of 2026 to witness its stunning sunrise vistas. Nearly 12,000 hot air balloon flights allowed international and domestic visitors to experience the UNESCO World Heritage Site’s ancient fairy chimneys and breathtaking valleys from a bird’s-eye view. This remarkable turnout accounted for the vast majority of Turkey’s nationwide balloon passenger traffic during this six-month period. Following a stellar 2025 that welcomed over 754,000 fliers, the region expects this intense momentum to surge even higher as the peak summer and autumn tourist seasons begin.
