Early this morning, the Israeli army used heavy machinery to demolish a two-story Palestinian home and a water well in the occupied West Bank town of Sa’ir. Soldiers reportedly prevented the eight residents from retrieving their belongings and beat and detained the homeowner for two days before destroying the property over claims it was “unlicensed.” Sa’ir Mayor Sa’d al-Shalalda condemned the destruction as a tactic to expand settlements and isolate the village, describing it as “an attack on all the basic elements of life.” Urging immediate global intervention, the mayor appealed to the international community to “stop the demolition work that has intensified since the last war against the Palestinian people.
