China announced retaliatory tariffs on U.S. imports and launched an antitrust investigation into Google following Washington’s decision to impose additional duties on Chinese goods.
Starting February 10, Beijing will impose a 15% tariff on U.S. coal and liquefied natural gas (LNG) and a 10% tariff on crude oil, agricultural equipment, pickup trucks, and certain automobiles. China’s Ministry of Commerce condemned the U.S. move as a violation of WTO rules, stating it harms bilateral trade. Additionally, China will tighten export controls on critical minerals, including tungsten and molybdenum, citing national security concerns.
Meanwhile, China’s State Administration for Market Regulation has opened an antitrust probe into Google over alleged monopoly practices.
