flamingos settle in Turkey’s Van lake

The Van Lake, known for its diverse bird population, is home to 250 of Turkey’s approximately 450 bird species. This year, flamingos from Iran’s Urmia Lake settled in large groups in Erçek Lake, Çelebağı wetland, Muradiye Bendimahi wetland, and Gevaş Göründü wetland, before migrating to African countries after spending some time in the Van Lake Basin.

“The natural beauty of Lake Van always presents a visual feast,” nature photographers said, adding that they came here to photograph flamingos. “Flamingos haven’t migrated in the Göründü Delta in about 5-6 years. Nearly 200 flamingos have become locals here. There are whooper swans, red-breasted Geese, and various other species along with flamingos. We invite all nature lovers to come see Lake Van’s unique beauty.” they said.
