Flood victims in Pakistan settles in streets

More than half of the casualties who lost their houses after the massive flood incident in Pakistan, that killed more than 1,700 people, settled in crude barracks and tents in streets. On the other hand, the United Nations’ warning that approximately 5.7 million people will face a serious food crisis in the next three months has made it even harder to answer how the casualties, who cannot meet their needs for shelter, food, clean water and heating will survive the winter.

“We have nothing. We were not even given a tent. We sit unprotected with children. Our house has already collapsed. We are extremely worried,” one of the flood victims said.

More than 2 million homes had been either completely destroyed or damaged in the disaster that displaced nearly 8 million people. About 10 million children are estimated to be in urgent need of support.
