The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced that 5 people lost their lives and 350 were injured in the 6.4-magnitude earthquake in Hatay. A child in Tartus, a woman in Hama and 3 people in Aleppo died due to the earthquake. According to reports, several of the fatalities were the consequence of heart attacks brought on by anxiety and panic.
Additionally, people in Syria spent the night in the streets, cars and gardens under harsh winter conditions. Many people avoided going inside their houses out of fear from the aftershocks.
