Homeless and tenants carried out “housing” protest in Paris

Homeless people and tenants hit the streets in Paris, the capital of France on Saturday. The demonstrators, gathered in front of the France Ministry of Ecological Transition, which is responsible for the housing affairs in the country, and protested the housing problem that the French government promised but not resolved yet. The demonstrators claiming 117 thousand houses were kept empty in the Paris alone, tried to make their voices heard by the government with pots and pans. During protest, the demonstrators also reacted to private property, and claimed this system threatens human life.

Meanwhile, a demonstrator stated that the housing problem in France is becoming a bigger problem. “The budget of the German vaccine company Pfizer is 80 billion Euros, the housing budget of France is 17 billion Euros. This Macron mutation is very dangerous,” the demonstrator wrote on the banner that he was holding. Also other demonstrators pointed out that the number of people who lost their jobs due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak is increasing day by day, and indicated that this situation will increase the number of homeless people in the country. The demonstrators also stated that they are waiting for a house in the new year by hanging symbols in the form of keys and houses on the Christmas tree they have set up in front of the ministry building. Worried that the demonstrators would occupy the ministry building, the police blocked the front of the building with vehicles.
