Hundreds in Poland Protest Resolution to Protect Netanyahu at Auschwitz Event

Hundreds of people in Poland protested the positive response of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Polish President Andrzej Duda to a letter requesting that Netanyahu not be arrested if he comes to Poland to attend the 80th anniversary liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp yesterday. Gathering in front of the Presidential Office and then the Prime Minister’s Office in the evening, the protesters chanted slogans such as “Stop the Israeli death machine” and “I am ashamed of the government that protects war criminals” and called for the severance of diplomatic, commercial and military relations with Israel. The demonstration ended after about 2 hours.

On November 21, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for committing war crimes and crimes against humanity under Articles 18 and 19 of the Rome Statute.
