monsoon rains put 44,000 Malaysian out of their homes

More than 44,000 residents in the southern portion of the Malaysian peninsula have reportedly had to leave their homes due to massive floods brought on by the monsoon rains.

In Malaysia, there are two distinct rainy seasons: one brought on by the southwest monsoon between May and September, and the other by the more intense northeast monsoon between October and March, which typically impacts Borneo and the eastern section of the peninsula.
