Mexico’s National Center for Disaster Prevention reported that Popocatepetl Volcano severely erupted three times during the past day. After the explosion, ashes rained on the balconies of houses and on vehicles in nearby settlements. In addition, residents of the city of Atlixco, near the volcano, stated that the windows of their houses were broken due to the violent eruptions.
Authorities stated that eruptions would continue at the volcano and advised people to stay away from the crater and take precautions against ashfall.
