Sweden Hit by Severe Snowstorm, Transport Halts

A heavy snowstorm in southern Sweden disrupted life, causing a standstill on the E22 highway between Hörby and Kristianstad. The extreme weather, including heavy snow and ice, left thousands of vehicles stranded, prompting rescue teams and the Swedish army’s intervention. Efforts are underway to provide food and water to those stranded, with the highway expected to reopen tomorrow.

Additionally, northern Sweden experienced record-breaking cold, with temperatures plummeting to minus 43.6 degrees Celsius in the Kvikkjokk-Arrenjarka region, marking the country’s coldest day in 25 years. The ongoing cold wave is anticipated to persist until the week’s end.
