Australian authorities got alarmed due to high temperatures at the beginning of the spring season. In the Sydney city of New South Wales, which is among the states where record temperatures were expected, the termomemeters showed 34.2 degrees. The temperatures exceeded the seasonal normals in September by 12 degrees, and the Bureau of Meteorology stated that the temperatures will continue to increase. The bureau also announced that the El Nino weather phenomenon has started to affect the country as of today.
