Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Ersin Tatar and Greek Cypriot Administration (GCA) leader Nikos Christodoulides met in the UN buffer zone in Cyprus. Hosted by UN Special Representative Colin Stewart, the meeting focused on easing congestion at border crossings, including discussions on opening a new vehicle crossing at Haspolat.

President Tatar highlighted the potential for increased trade and smoother transit through the Green Line Regulation. The Greek Cypriot side reportedly seeks reciprocal transit arrangements. This marks the first direct meeting between the leaders since December, with Tatar expected to address the media afterward.

İsa Demirhan, a Turkish SMA patient, has fulfilled his 16-year-long dream of performing Hajj. Despite his condition, Demirhan said his illness does not prevent him from completing the pilgrimage.

Using a wheelchair, Demirhan traveled to the holy lands with his family and support from Türkiye’s Presidency of Religious Affairs. “We registered in 2009 and waited nearly 16 years,” he said.

He encouraged others with disabilities not to hesitate: “If there are pilgrims worried due to a disability, they shouldn’t worry. Allah eases the way. The state and Religious Affairs are improving support every year.”
