turkish chalcographer engrave motifs on copper for over 50 years

İbrahim Özcan, a Turkish chalcographer from Mardin, has been working with copper by hand since he was 7 years old. He has spent almost all of his 60-year life drawing motifs on copper.

His products, which are prepared with great effort, attract both locals and tourists. Initially, the motifs are drawn on copper and then engraved one by one with nails and hammers.

Özcan stated that the prices of his products range from 400 to 700 liras. He said, “First, we draw the pattern with a pencil, then we paint it or embroider it one by one. We produce items such as pans, copper pots, jugs, and coffee pots.”
