Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated in the G7 summit that “The enemy used more than 100 missiles and dozens of drones yesterday, including Iranian Shahed UAVs. Every 10 minutes I get information that the enemy is using Iranian Shaheds. Russia wants to incite chaos in Ukraine and throughout the democratic world, so it uses everything from missile attacks to the seizure of the nuclear power plant, nuclear threats, sabotage of infrastructure in Europe, to the deliberate attempt to destroy Ukraine’s energy facilities.
Zelensky then thanked Chancellor Scholz and President Biden for all the heavy military equipment they provided to Ukraine and said that they look forward to the delivery of the SAMP/T systems from France. However, reporting that Russia ordered 2,400 Shadid drones from Iran, he demanded air defence systems from the participant countries of the summit. “When Ukraine receives a sufficient number of modern and effective air defense systems, the missile attacks, which are the main elements of Russian terror, will cease.” Zelenskyy said.
Reminding that the international legal order should be protected in accordance with the resolutions of United Nations , Zelensky said “Russia must be completely isolated and punished.”
Stating that Russia is trying to get Belarus involved in the war with the provocations of an incoming attack from Ukraine to Belarus, Zelensky said that “Ukraine has not planned a military attack against Belarus. A delegation of international observers may be deployed on the border between Ukraine and Belarus to monitor the security situation. This format can be accelerated by us. At the Group of Seven level, I ask you to support our initiative.”
