State Flag Day is celebrated in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, with various events.

The ceremony at the National Park started with the National Anthem of Azerbaijan. Then, helium balloons in the colors of the Azerbaijani flag were released into the sky. Throughout the celebrations, flag shaped badges will be given to the visitors, and children’s faces will be painted in the colors of the Azerbaijani flag.

After Azerbaijan put an end to Soviet captivity for the second time, the Ali Majlis of the Azerbaijan Republic once again declared the 3-colored crescent-star flag as the State Flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan on February 5, 1991.

Azerbaijan celebrates November 9 as “State Flag Day” in accordance with the decree signed by the President Ilham Aliyev in 2009.
