Historic Building in Izmir Evacuated and Put Up for Sale

The iconic Büyük Kardiçalı Inn, an architectural gem in Izmir dating back to 1928 and known as Türkiye’s second reinforced concrete structure, has been evacuated due to seismic safety concerns. The inn, a significant part of Izmir’s history, faced structural issues and was targeted by thieves, prompting precautionary measures like wall reinforcements.

With deep cracks and safety hazards apparent, the inn, once a bustling hub with over 40 workshops, was vacated in recent months. The decision to sell the century-old property, accommodating around 40 stakeholders, has been made, with an asking price of approximately 35 million dollars or 1 billion 130 million TL.
