The Assad regime’s actions in Damascus, Syria, have left behind widespread destruction, with civilian areas and religious sites targeted. Bombing campaigns in the Daraya district reduced mosques to rubble, showcasing the severity of the attacks.
Daraya resident Umam Hatip described the aftermath, accusing regime soldiers of systematically destroying buildings, looting iron from debris, and selling it. “They hit all the mosques in Daraya,” Hatip said, lamenting that no mosque remained intact. He added, “The soldiers who were supposed to protect us destroyed us.”
The extent of the damage underscores the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Syria’s capital.
